Aerial Drone Seeding and Granular Spreading
Drone seeding and granular spreading use a GPS-guided drone to apply seed, fertiliser and other dry products across pasture, revegetation sites and difficult-access land in South East Queensland — where ground equipment is impractical or would cause soil damage.
Drone Seeding for Pasture and Revegetation
Aerial seeding uses a drone fitted with a granular spreader to apply seed across a defined area. The drone follows a GPS flight plan so seed is distributed at a controlled rate across the target zone.
This approach is useful for pasture renovation, revegetation and rehabilitation work on steep, wet or difficult-access country where a tractor-mounted seeder cannot operate without causing soil damage or access problems.
Spreading and seeding timing is rainfall-driven — see our South East Queensland seasonal application guide for the best windows to spread seed, fertiliser and granular products.
Granular Spreading
A drone with a granular spreader can apply dry products such as fertiliser, seed, bait and other granular material. The spread rate is controlled by the drone system so product is distributed evenly across the target area.
Granular spreading by drone is particularly useful for properties where ground equipment cannot safely access the treatment area, or where soil damage from vehicle traffic is a concern.
Pasture Renovation and Establishment
Drone seeding can support pasture renovation by applying seed across paddocks that need renovation or over-sowing. On hilly or difficult-access properties, aerial seeding allows pasture improvement to proceed without the need for ground equipment on challenging terrain.
For properties with steep or difficult country, see our page on drone spraying for steep and difficult terrain.
Revegetation and Rehabilitation
Aerial seeding is used for revegetation and land rehabilitation projects, including erosion control, riparian restoration and rehabilitation of disturbed land. Drone application allows seed to be applied across sites that are difficult to access on the ground.
For mapping that supports revegetation and treatment planning, see our agricultural drone mapping page.
Product and Compliance Notes
We do not claim to apply a particular regulated bait, agricultural chemical or product unless that service is available and legally permitted. Product selection and application rates must be appropriate for the situation. Applications are subject to site assessment, applicable product labels, weather conditions and regulatory requirements.
